Happening now: With a little extra humidity, temperatures fall off slower than recent nights. Partly cloudy tonight with lows not far from 70.

What’s next? The 90s are back tomorrow along with a risk of strong storms. Mostly dry and less humid Friday and this weekend with highs in the 80s.

Forecast in detail

Tonight: Partly cloudy as a light breeze from the south brings in more humid air. Lows settle in the upper 60s to low 70s (as dew points rise to the mid-60s). Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Maybe a brief morning shower. A gusty breeze from the south helps turn up the heat with highs heading for the mid-90s under partly sunny skies. Humidity is noticeable but not oppressive (dew points in the mid-60s). Some storms with strong winds could develop during the afternoon. However, confidence is fairly low as to whether we're talking about isolated, scattered, or numerous storms. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tomorrow night: Shower and storm chances may continue into the evening, with the best chance south and east of DC. A few showers remains possible overnight as a cold front lingers nearby. Partly cloudy overnight with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Drier air works in Friday (Juneteenth) as a breeze comes from the northwest, although a few showers are still possible. Highs should top out in the low to mid-80s with partly sunny skies and decreasing humidity. Mostly clear and comfortable Friday night with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Medium

Most of the weekend looks great. Both days should be mostly sunny with highs in the 80s and low humidity. Saturday could be rather breezy, with lighter winds Sunday. Saturday night lows dip to the upper 50s and low 60s. Shower chances could return by Sunday evening or overnight. Confidence: Medium-High
