Happening now: Variably cloudy with temperatures in the 60s this evening and a breeze from the east. Grab a light layer if out? Lows about 55 to 60.

What’s next? Another pleasant day Tuesday before heat and humidity gradually increase, with highs well into the 90s by Thursday and Friday. Showers and storms become a daily possibility starting Wednesday.

Forecast in detail

Tonight: A great evening to spend some time outside as temperatures fall back through the 70s and into the 60s. By morning, lows range about 55 to 60 under mostly clear skies. Winds are mainly calm. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Partly sunny and a little warmer than Monday, but still nice. Highs reach the low to mid-80s while humidity remains low (dew points 50 to 55). A gentle breeze from the south (around 5 mph) might start to filter in during the afternoon. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: A few more clouds and not as cool, with a slight chance of an overnight shower. Lows range from the upper 50s to mid-60s as a light breeze from the south continues. Confidence: Medium-High

A look ahead

Our weather honeymoon ends Wednesday as southerly winds pump in warm, sticky air, pushing highs to the mid-80s to near 90 and increasing humidity (dew points climbing through the 60s). Skies are partly sunny and there's a decent chance of scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms. Partly cloudy and muggy at night with lows near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Thursday and Friday are probably the hottest days of the summer so far, and humid too. Skies are partly to mostly sunny both days with highs probably at least in the mid-90s. Factoring in humidity (dew points near 70) it could feel like the upper 90s to near 100. Scattered showers and storms are possible both afternoons and evenings; some could be intense. Warm nighttime lows only dip to the upper 60s to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium

It's a little less hot over the weekend but still steamy. Highs both days reach the low to mid-90s, with nighttime lows near 70. We keep the chances for late-day showers and storms in the forecast, but Sunday may offer somewhat higher odds. Confidence: Medium
